End of an Era
By Tinotenda • 9/2/2025
It’s been a great run, but it’s time to say goodbye.
This is probably one of the toughest articles I’ve had to write, but it’s a necessary one. After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to stop developing and maintaining Tino Talks Tech.
My Blogging Journey
I first got into blogging back in 2021. I was 14, and it started as a passion. I really enjoyed it. My goal at the time was to build an independent brand, something that wasn't just about me and could maybe become an income stream down the line.
And it did. To my surprise, it worked. The blog was monetized within a year, the viewership was growing, and a community was starting to form around it. I genuinely loved what I was doing.
Eventually, though, I started to burn out. The truth is, I was tired of the grind of writing 4-5 articles a week and managing everything by myself. It was a lot for a 15-year-old. I convinced myself that I wouldn’t be able to scale the blog on my own, especially targeting just the Zimbabwean demographic.
So, I decided to stop. I went quiet for a month, and during that time, I received an offer to buy the site. It felt like the right move, so I sold it.
The Start of Tino Talks Tech
At 16, I decided to get back into it. That’s when Tino Talks Tech was born. This time, it was different. I made the blog as a passion project, something centered on my personal brand, hence the name. I had no focus on earning anything from it. The vision was simple: run the blog on my own, for the love of it. I built it up, started growing a community again, and here we are today.
A New Chapter
For the last year, I’ve been dedicating more and more of my time to IBZim, a platform we've been building. Unlike Tino Talks Tech, IBZim is designed to be an income-generating project. We're constantly working on enhancing the platform, publishing more content, and growing it as a platform.
The Tough Decision
So now I’ve found myself in a tough spot. There's a lot on my plate, contributing to IBZim, maintaining my personal platform, my personal life, hobbies, and everything else. In all fairness, one has to go.
So I’ve made the tough decision to stop updating Tino Talks Tech. It has been a struggle, especially after a recent 6-month break where I lost almost half the community and engagement dropped off. It became clear this was the right choice.
The blog itself will remain online, and I’ll still be maintaining my personal portfolio. But as for new content here, this marks the end of an era.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
