What We Know About The Upcoming Pixel 10s

The Google Pixel 10 series is set to launch on August 20th, and if the specs are anything to go by, we’re in for a serious treat, probably a first for the Pixel family. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for a release that feels like a genuine leap forward, and this might just be it. Let’s look at what Google has in store for us this year.

The Pixel 10 Lineup

Just like what they did with the Pixel 9 series, Google is giving us the same lineup of 4 devices, Base, Pro, Pro XL and Fold, and I love how they’re now aiming to cover every possible user with their devices, also including the a model that gets released later.

Pixel 10

The base model is getting what I think is its most important upgrade ever: a triple camera setup. For too long, you had to go "Pro" to get a telephoto lens on Pixel devices, whereas Samsung base models have had that for a while now (and we all know iPhone base models offer the bare minimum).

  • Display: 6.3-inch AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits brightness.
  • Processor: The new Tensor G5.
  • RAM: 8GB / 12GB options.
  • Cameras: Finally, a Main, Ultrawide, AND Telephoto lens.
  • Battery: A 4,970 mAh battery with Qi2 magnetic wireless charging.
  • My Take: I've always said the base model deserves more love, and Google's also acknowledging that now, which steps up the Pixel 10 to be a flagship phone compared to the 9 which seemed like a midrange at a flagship price. So giving the standard model a telephoto lens is a game-changer and makes it a much more compelling option against its Pro sibling.

Pixel 10 Pro

This is the flagship for the enthusiast who prefers a smaller form factor, taking everything a step further.

  • Display: 6.3-inch AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits brightness.
  • Processor: Tensor G5.
  • RAM: 12GB / 16GB.
  • Storage: Up to 1TB.
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh with Qi2 support.
  • My Take: This model is the sweet spot for any hardcore user out there, pro level specs with a decent size, I love it and the fact that you get more RAM, and more storage options which make this the one for creators and users who need the absolute best.

Pixel 10 Pro XL

For those who believe bigger is always better (which I disagree with but that's just my opinion)

  • Display: A massive 6.8-inch AMOLED with the same 120Hz refresh rate as the Pro and base.
  • Processor: Tensor G5.
  • Battery: A beefy 5,200 mAh pack.
  • My Take: Same phone as the Pro but purely for the large-screen lovers. It’s essentially the Pro model but with a bigger screen and battery to match. If you use your phone for media consumption or as a primary work device, this is your go-to.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Pixel Fold... Every time I think of a Pixel Fold the first gen mess always comes to mind, but this time (and the 9 Fold as well), Google actually made a decent one.

  • Displays: An 8-inch internal screen and a 6.4-inch external one.
  • Processor: Tensor G5.
  • RAM: 16GB.
  • Battery: 5,015 mAh.
  • My Take: Foldables are still a niche, yes, but they are the future. With a 'flagship' processor and a huge internal screen, the Pixel Fold could be a productivity machine. And yes, it’s not for everyone, it's not the best on the market, but I’m glad to see Google staying in the game.

What Are the Big Upgrades?

So, what really sets the Pixel 10 series apart from the 9? For me, it comes down to a few key things:

  • Tensor G5 Processor: This is the heart of the new series. Built on a 3nm process, it promises better performance and, more importantly, better power efficiency. My phone’s battery life is always a concern, so this is a welcome improvement.
  • Cameras for All: As I mentioned before, the standard Pixel 10 getting a telephoto lens is a huge win. It closes the gap between the base and Pro models significantly.
  • Qi2 Wireless Charging (with 'Magsafe'): Finally, and I'll repeat, FINALLY! Magnetic wireless charging is coming to Pixel. This is one of those quality-of-life features that, once you use it, you can't live without and I also hope to see some South Korean company adopting the magnets too.
  • Smarter AI Features: As expected, It wouldn't be a Pixel without new AI stuff. New features like "Camera Coach" to help you take better photos and "Speak-to-Tweak" for voice-controlled photo editing sound incredibly 'useful'.

My Concerns

While I'm excited, I do have a few reservations. No device is perfect, after all.

The base Pixel 10 might be getting a telephoto lens, but it could also mean that the main and ultra-wide sensors could be slight downgrades to keep costs down. We'll have to see if the software can make up for it. Also, the 128GB starting storage on the base model feels a bit dated in 2025, especially with how large apps and photos have become.

Final Thoughts

The Google Pixel 10 series is shaping up to be a powerful and comprehensive lineup. It feels like Google has kinda listened to feedback and is delivering features users have been asking for, like the triple camera on the base model and magnetic wireless charging. And I'm happy to say that this could be the year that Pixel truly solidifies its place at the top of the smartphone food chain. Now, we just have to wait for the official announcement.
